Fitch Even Partners Steve Favakeh and Joe Herron Present AIPPI Japan Program

December 2, 2019

On November 19, Fitch Even partners Stephen S. Favakeh and Joseph H. Herron presented a seminar titled “Controlling the Speed of Patent Prosecution to Meet Client Goals” at the Kanazawa Institute of Technology in Tokyo, Japan. The seminar was presented in conjunction with AIPPI Japan, a national group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI).

During the seminar, Steve discussed substantive tactics for streamlining or delaying patent prosecution on behalf of clients, including strategic claiming, working effectively with the patent examiner, continuations and other portfolio-level strategies, and others. Joe discussed various USPTO programs and tools that can be used to streamline or delay prosecution, such as accelerated examination, the First Action Interview Pilot Program, pre-appeal requests for review, suspensions of action, and other available tools.

For more information on the seminar topic, or to learn more about Fitch Even’s Japanese practice, please contact Steve or Joe.
