Fitch Even Partner John Naber Speaks at American University

On April 19, 2016, Fitch Even partner John N. Naber presented a program on “Identifying and Developing Intellectual Property” at American University in Washington, D.C. During the program, which was sponsored by the university’s Department of Mathematics & Statistics, John discussed the importance of identifying, developing, and protecting intellectual property in all business settings, including at universities. John’s presentation included an introduction to copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, and the different types of patents; an overview of the law governing patentability; and a discussion of critical questions to consider when beginning the process of defining, protecting, promoting, and monetizing innovations.

John is a registered patent attorney with extensive experience in patent prosecution, clearance, and opinion work and in patent and trademark portfolio management. He also counsels clients on issues that arise in corporate advertising, marketing, and product labeling and marking.
