Beginning in September 2021, Fitch Even will participate in the second cohort of the Midsize Mansfield Rule certification program. The Mansfield Rule is an initiative developed by Diversity Lab that aims to increase the representation of diverse lawyers in leadership.
Firms participating in the program commit to considering at least 30% historically underrepresented lawyers—women, lawyers of color, LGBTQ+ lawyers, and lawyers with disabilities—for 60% or more of the leadership roles and activities within the firm. This applies to selecting attorneys for governance positions, new hires, promotions, and client pitches and formal meetings. Firms also commit to transparency in internal governance processes, including selection guidelines and job descriptions for management roles and committees. Upon meeting certain measurable objectives over the 18-month certification period, a firm will earn the distinction of being Mansfield Certified.
